Get to know a little about...
Kids Summer Horse Day and Overnight Camp 09'
Things are different for our 2009 summer camps most is the same but a few minor changes. When you request a packet you will be informed of what each camp will be like with a day to day schedule.
Here at Horse Haven Farm children are the primary focus of our horse day camp and now our overnight camp programs. Each camp is different but with overnight camp the children get to experience exactly what it is like to be a real cowboy/cowgirl. Your child’s unique needs, talents, and interests are incorporated into daily schedules safety and comfort come before anything else. We want the children's camp experience to be enjoyable and fun while they are learning. Our goal is by the end of camp each child will know how to manage and take care of there own horse. HHF teaches pro-social skills used in independent living, communication, leadership, and group dynamics. Exposure to safe horse care and riding encourages campers to discover the unique, beautiful relationship between horse and rider. Participating in hands-on horse management, they experience demanding day-to-day responsibilities while realizing the dynamics of the horse. We like to teach the kids that horses are not all fun they are hard work and hard work gets rewarded. Western, English, Gymkhana, Trail and Jumping will be covered to expand the memory and skills of the campers, throughout all riding sessions, safe and focused techniques are applied. Horse care is defined as mucking stalls, grooming, tacking up and un-tacking, washing or brushing horses down after a ride, and sharing the responsibilities of feeding the horses. Each child is assigned a horse this camp season and they are expected to take care of all of the horses needs while they are at camp. (Instructors are there to assist at all times but child are expected to do most things themselves) Horses are subject to change throughout camp if instructors think/feel that the horse and child aren't the right fit. The childrens safety comes before all else just because a child may have a favorite horse doesn't mean that they and the horse are a perfect fit. Our attempt is to get riders in touch with the overall work involved with horse ownership and safe responsible caring practices.
